For law firms

Confidential by design. Evidence by default.

Engagement letters, retainers and settlements, signed without handing client documents to a provider that can read them. Every signature comes with evidence you can verify yourself and put in front of a court.

Client confidences leave your control

Most e-signature services can read the documents they process. Your confidentiality duty doesn't end at the vendor.

Signatures get challenged

“I never signed that” turns into a fight over logs held by someone else.

Retainers stall before the work starts

Engagement letter signed, but the retainer still needs a separate invoice and a follow-up.

What you get

Built for law firms.

We can't read your documents

Documents are encrypted in the browser before upload. We never store a key that opens them, which supports your reasonable-efforts duty to protect client information.

Evidence you can verify yourself

Sealed, independently timestamped and publicly anchored. Opposing counsel can check a document without an account or our help.

Retainer paid on signature

Attach the retainer to the engagement letter. The client signs and pays through your own Stripe account in one step (Business plan).

Identity when it matters

Access codes you share by phone, one-time codes, photo ID and selfie checks, or in-person signing in your office.

Matters, teams and paralegals

Share envelopes with colleagues, give admins access to everyone's sent documents, and keep folders by matter.

Templates and conditional fields

Standard engagement letters with fields placed once, plus conditional fields and calculated amounts for fee schedules.

How it works

Four steps, start to sealed.

  1. 1

    Send the engagement letter

From a template, with the client's details and fee prefilled.

  2. 2

    Add an access code

Tell the client the code by phone. The key never appears in their email.

  3. 3

They sign and pay the retainer

On any device, with the consent and disclosure recorded.

  4. 4

    File the sealed PDF

The certificate inside it proves who signed, when and how, and anyone can verify it.

Common documents

What teams like yours send.

  • Engagement letters and retainer agreements
  • Fee agreements and conflict waivers
  • Settlement agreements and releases
  • NDAs and confidentiality agreements
  • Client intake and authorization forms
  • Litigation hold and preservation notices
  • Corporate consents and board resolutions
  • Employment and severance agreements

Documents that must be notarized, witnessed or wet-signed (for example wills in many states, and court filings with their own rules) aren't covered. Check your jurisdiction's rules for each document type.

Questions

What people ask.

Does end-to-end encryption help with confidentiality rules?
ABA Model Rule 1.6(c) asks lawyers to make reasonable efforts to prevent unauthorized disclosure of client information. A provider that can't read your documents narrows who could ever disclose them. Whether that meets your obligations is for you and your jurisdiction's ethics guidance to judge.
Will the evidence hold up?
SealProof is designed around the ESIGN Act and UETA. Each document carries a sealed Certificate of Completion and a proof bundle that verifies independently of us. See how the audit trail compares.
Can we notarize with SealProof?
Not yet. Remote notarization has its own state requirements, including video sessions and notary certificates, so use a notary service for those documents.
Can SealProof read our documents?
No. Documents are encrypted on your device before they're uploaded, and only you and the people you send them to hold the key. We store ciphertext we can't open.
